Dire Need
by Jasmine Roach
Love is a word deprived of its true meaning
It is blatantly used as means to get by
Love is calm terror
Love is pain
Love me when it hurts
Like the cuts I made when you weren't there
Love me when the thirst for stability overtakes you
Love me like a warm summer day
The lilies gently resting on the motionless water
Love me when you have breathed your last breath
Love me when My death draws closer
My spirit now walks amongst the gods
The same gods that promised me riches
Love me when we are alone
When the tears rush like a waterfall
Love me when the storms rage
When you are swept up by the rain
When your mascara runs down your cheek
Love me even though you know I can't love you back
Love is a word that is beyond my vocabulary
We have all been taught to hate
That must mean you can't love me either
Love me when disease strikes
when the land is overcome with sorrow
Love me when your mother disapproves
When all of my family has betrayed me
When I knock on your door at 3 a.m and ask for a place to sleep
When the irony becomes unbearable
Love me when rumors spread like wildflowers
Love me regardless of what your first impression was
Love me like a mother loves her newly born child
Her skin was soft
It hadn't yet felt the burn of centuries
Love me when we are conflicted within ourselves
When the I have nothing left to live for
Love me when it pains you to look at me
Love me when they ridicule us
When we are put on trial
When our sentences are dispersed
Love me when you have a burning desire to hate me
Love me when desire isn't present
When you can no longer trust my word
Love me when my metaphors run out
Love me when I can no longer describe what I feel
Love me when the end has begun
Love me when hate is the only thing you can think of
Love is a word deprived of its true meaning
It is blatantly used as means to get by
Love is calm terror
Love is pain
