 The Dark

         by Noelle De La Garza

I've grown accustomed to the darkness

The black silk sheet that wraps around

Our naked bodies

To conceal us from the days woes

The safety of you staying there next to me

When the sun comes up I understand

You have to go

But in the dark you're here

We're here

In the dark there's nothing to be afraid of

Now I can't quite seem to understand why

Kids are afraid of the darkness

To be honest

I'm more afraid of the light
