  • “Accountability” is DOING

    • Not just assuming responsibility for decisions, actions, and products/results, but also BEING ABLE TO EXPLAIN (or ACCOUNT FOR) and be ANSWERABLE for the consequences, good or bad.  In other words, you should be able to say what you’ve accomplished, what you haven’t, and why (including what YOUR role in the accomplishment or failure was).

    • INTEGRITY: Holding true to your commitments, being dependable, being trustworthy, someone that people can “COUNT” on

    • DOING WHAT IS HARD (“Sucking it up”--Connor)

    • WANTING TO DO IT (willingness and openness to participate)

    • NO EXCUSES

  • “Sustainability” is LOOKING AFTER SOMETHING YOU VALUE

    • Keeping that something going by

      • energizing it

      • healing it

      • replenishing it

      • protecting it

      • resisting negative influences on it

      • persevering alongside it

Service is:

  • Different from “charity,” which is BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR OTHERS.

  • Service is JUSTICE, or BEING RESPONSIBLE TO OTHERS

    • It’s a RELATIONSHIP, not just a maintenance

    • It’s helping, assisting, working with kindness and courage

    • It’s also TEACHING and SHARING through knowledge and experience, transferring that through the relationship from one to the other so that it can be sustained

    • It's in the giving back without expectation of someone or something to reward you
